HTML HEROES
We have been working on HTML Heroes to learn all about internet safety. Thank you to Ms. Leonard for all her help facilitating the programme in our classroom!
Pen License
Some boys and girls have now earned their pen licenses. Well done! Remember the few rules:
- Use your ‘Berol’ handwriting pen (or similar)
- Stick to pencil in your maths copy
- If you make a mistake just cross it out once
and most importantly keep up the neat writing!

Félicitations tout la monde!
A big well done to everyone who has now taken part in the first of our French games - Guess Who? via Skype with our partner class in Ancinnes. Everybody did great and although it was challenging all the boys and girls did themselves proud! Très Bien!
Lá Glas!
French Skype Call!
Today we had our first Skype call with our partner class in France! We were so happy it worked today as we had some technical difficulties before! We were well prepared to be able to play a game of ‘Guess Who?’ with the French boys and girls. It was very successful! We are looking forward to all having a turn to speak with the French children during the year!
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day 2019 by testing our book knowledge in a Kahoot quiz! Well done to Megan and Mehak who maintained the lead throughout! Maith sibh!

History Projects
We are putting the finishing touches to our history projects based on life in Ireland since the 1950s. Thank you to Mr. Gerrard for all the guidance you have given us! We are looking forward to showing you the results ☺️
10@10
We have been enjoying 10@10 over the last couple of weeks. Especially when the weather means we can’t get outside!
Clothes Drive
We helped with collecting donations of clothes this morning from students and parents and with getting them packed up properly. We really enjoyed it!
Shotgun - As Gaeilge!

Healthy Lunches
We have been making a big effort to eat more healthily at school. We’ve also been learning about how to make healthy choices and eating a balanced diet. We made “Know your Nutrients” posters to explain to others where to find the main nutrients in food and why we need them to stay healthy.
Team Teaching Coming To An End!
Our maths team teaching has come to an end but not before we were set some exciting challenges. Well done to Ms. McCann's group who solved a very difficult puzzle (recommended for 11-16 year olds!!). They worked diligently and as a team to form a cube that had all 9 colours on each face. It wasn't an easy challenge but they did it! Maith síbh.
Here are some final pictures which show just how hard we have been working over the past couple of months in maths. Well done!

Happy New Year!
Welcome back to school for the first week in 2019! I hope everyone had a relaxing break. We wish all our friends and family a very happy and healthy 2019 :)
BREAKING NEWS
We have a VERY special guest..hopefully Buddy doesn’t cause too much drama while he’s around...we’ll keep you posted!
Christmas Door Competition
Here is our entry for the Christmas Door Competition based on the movie Elf. We hope we’ve done enough to win a prize but there is a lot of competition around! We love it and the effort that classes have put in has been great to watch!
County Projects
We have been learning about “Our County”. As the class is split between Louth and Meath, groups went with the majority. The finished projects were very impressive but what was even better was how all the groups collaborated so well. So well in fact everyone enjoyed a homework pass! 👍🏼
W5 STEM CHALLENGE
We had a visit from W5 to celebrate science week. We built cars and tested the distance they travelled using a ramp. We considered many factors to ensure we had a fair test. We ensured both ramps had the same slope, both ramps had the same starting position, both ramps faced the same direction and that neither car was ‘pushed’ further. We raced in pairs and amazingly every car made it down the ramps and travelled a good distance! A morning well spent!

GAA training
We have started a six week block of Gaelic training sessions on Friday mornings. Thank you to the coaches from local GAA clubs for coming in to train us. Many of the boys and girls in this class already play for clubs so we are delighted that everyone has a chance to practice and learn new skills.
I'm a Scientist Get Me Out of Here!
There is great excitement in our room this week as we take part in 'I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here!'. We have had the opportunity to ask 5 scientists questions relating to various environmental issues. There is also an opportunity to engage in a live chat with them using the chromebooks. We loved voting for our favourite scientist to win the competition!
Check back soon and we'll let you know some of the interesting facts we are learning!
Did you know?
Jellyfish have a network of nerves around their tenticles called a nerve net that they can use to detect prey.
Jellyfish don't have a brain - they don't even have a heart!
There are more than 100 species of bees - among them only one is the honeybee.
Honey bees can fly more than 30km per hour

Team Teaching- Maths
On Monday we started team teaching. We will continue this until Christmas. We work on a different activity in our groups each day covering many topics across the maths curriculum and all while having fun! Thank you to our team teachers for all your help! :)
Happy Halloween!
What a brilliant dress up day we had! It is hard to believe we have reached midterm already! Have a great mid-term and stay safe!
Stop Motion Video - Count On Me
|
This is a stop motion movie we created on our class tablet to celebrate Friendship Week. We think we did a really good job illustrating the lyrics of the song 'Count On Me' by Bruno Mars.
